Continuing with the entry of new companies into Uruguay’s offshore areas, on May 14th QatarEnergy joined Area OFF-4 as a non-operating partner, with an 18% stake in the hydrocarbon exploration and production contract currently in force in that area. Following this incorporation, APA retains its role as operator of the block with a 50% interest, while Shell now holds a 32% stake as a non-operating partner.
In this way, QatarEnergy completes its entry as a non-operator in Uruguay’s offshore portfolio, adding to its presence in Areas OFF-2 and OFF-7, of which it has already been a part since March 25th.
