During ARPEL 2017 Oil and Gas Conference, held between 25th and 27th April 2017, General Manager of ANCAP, Eng. Ignacio Horvath officially announced that ANCAP is going to launch Uruguay Round 3, which was confirmed by the National Director of Energy, Eng. Olga Otegui
Bidding round terms and contract model are being elaborated between ANCAP and the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining, but it was stated that they will be very similar to those used for the successful Uruguay Round II.
Seventeen areas will be offered in the 3 offshore basins, with bathymetries ranging from 50m to 3,500m of water depth. Areas will be divided in Type I, Type II and Type III according to water depth, with different qualification requirements for oil companies for each type of area. The required exploratory program for each area is being defined according to the prospectivity and available data.
Uruguay Round 3 will be officially launched in Houston in September of this year, when Uruguayan Government will present to the upstream industry the bidding round terms and contract model officially approved by the Executive Branch. Afterwards, a Road Show in October in London will be held. Additionally, ANCAP will organize Data Rooms in November in Houston, and also in their offices in Montevideo at any time to be conveniently arranged with interested oil companies.
Deadline for companies qualification will be in March 2018 and the submission of bids in April 2018.
