On 13th March PhD Juan Carlos Llinás visited Montevideo and lectured the conference: ‘Turbities and Deep Marine Depositional Systems – Examples of the Sinu Basin offshore Colombia’. This event was sponsored by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), and organized together with ANCAP and the Student Chapter of the AAPG in Uruguay. The audience comprised a group of twenty people including Geology students of the recently created chapter and geologists of Exploración & Producción of ANCAP (E&P). Llinás has a PhD in Geoscience at the University of Alabama, and is a specialist at Ecopetrol for the exploration of carbonates and deep waters. After the conference, Dr. Llinás met with E&P at ANCAP offices and discussed the possibilities of technical cooperation and the organization of scientific and technological events, together with the AAPG.
